Brent Ashcroft
FOX 17 Sports Director
Brent joined FOX 17 in November of 1998, and is the Sports Director for FOX 17 NEWS AT TEN, he has been with FOX 17 since the debut of FOX 17 NEWS AT TEN. During his career, Brent has covered many major sports events including the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1997 & 1998. Since becoming sports director at FOX 17, Brent has covered the Pistons in the NBA Finals in both 2004 & 2005, the Ryder Cup in Detroit (2004), Super Bowl XL in Detroit (2006) and the Tigers against the Cardinals in the World Series (2006). Brent also travelled to Lakeland, Florida to cover Detroit Tigers Spring Training. He's also covered the Daytona 500.
Brent's won a few awards during his broadcasting career, including the Associated Press' "Best Feature Story" in 1994. Brent also won Associated Press' "Honorable Mention" for Best Sportscast in 1999.
Prior to coming to FOX 17, Brent worked at WZZM TV in Grand Rapids, MI, as Production Assistant in 1992 to 1993, Sports Photographer from 1993 to 1998, Sports Reporter from 1994 to 1998, and Sports Anchor from 1997 to 1998. Brent also worked as a freelance photographer/intern at WOOD TV in Grand Rapids, MI, from 1990 to 1991; On-Air Sports Personality and Producer at WMFN AM Sports Radio from 1995 to 1996, also in Grand Rapids, MI.
Brent earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Grand Valley State University in 1991.
Brent is married to Lori and the two have a daughter named Sydney.
Brent enjoys all sports but is quick to admit being a die hard Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoys playing golf, boating and travelling.
