Kozminski Honored In Grand Rapids And In Washington D.C.
May 15, 2008, 1:47 PM EDT

GRAND RAPIDS — It's National Police Week, a time to remember officers killed in the line of duty.

Grand Rapids Police held their event in Rosa Parks Circle.

They honored 27 officers during the service including Officer Bob Kozminski, the most recent addition to the memorial.

He was killed last July responding to a domestic dispute call.

Kozminski's brother and sister took part in Thursday's service on behalf of their brother.

With the exception of 2001 (because of the 9/11 attacks), 2007 was the deadliest year for police officers since 1989.

181 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty.

The names of those men and women and others from recent years are being added to the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
