Job Fair In West Michigan
Thousands Attend

May 15, 2008, 4:09 PM EDT

WYOMING — A job fair aimed at helping Veterans, Thursday.

More than 100 employers from the public and private sector got together at the Wyoming Armory.

It was a chance to get some face-to-face contact with eager workers. It's sponsored by the Michigan National Guard but the event was open to the public. It's a tough economy and Veterans say sometimes it's hard convincing employers that they have skills that can transfer to the workplace.

"On the outside there's only a few job opportunities for infantrymen to go to, I joined because of 9-11 to serve my country, and I get out and there aren't a lot of job opportunities," said Iraq War Vet, Nathan Pesch.

More than 1500 people showed up, including hundreds of veterans.
