Ex Encounters

When Carrie and Miranda ran into Aidan and Steve, they officially freaked out. But who wouldn't? Running into an ex when you least expect it doesn't rank high on our list of fun things to do. You shared your most awful, awkward ex encounters:

The nerve!
"Yes, a few years ago, my ex and I split and he had the nerve to show up at my hangout with his new girlfriend, which really hurt me. He wound up staring at me all night and even waved to me. I made believe I didn't even see him. Well, he wound up getting his -- I didn't expect it but an old flame of mine showed up and made me feel a lot better... my ex got so jealous that he couldn't stand it and wound up leaving."

He really made her feel sick
"I threw up. I saw my ex, and I wretched. It was horrifying."

Confessing to cheating
"I've had quite a hideous run-in with an ex once. He seemed to have thought that he had told me he cheated on me before he dumped me with one of my friends and when he realized that he was talking to me about something I knew nothing about previously, the only reaction he could conjure up was 'whoops, sorry.'"

He felt like he had nothing to hide
"Well, he wasn't really my ex -- I was working in a restaurant and my boyfriend came in with his new girlfriend WHILE WE WERE STILL DATING. I went over and said "Hello..." and he looked right at me and said "We'll have two burger platters with fries and two Cokes." Then he turned and continued the conversation with his new girl. I was so stunned, I just had to stand there for a few seconds."

Taking a tumble
"Yes, I absolutely did have a, should I say, horrible run-in with an ex. One day I ran into an ex of mine, and it wasn't that long (after) our breakup. I really did not want to see him, so I ran all the way to the other side of my office building to go down the back steps instead of the front. I was so nervous that once I got to the back steps, instead of walking down, I tumbled down. I was mortified; luckily, no one had seen me. Unfortunately, when I got outside the building, I ran into my ex. I looked insane since I had just finished falling down two flights of steps. All I could do was give a rushed hello and try not to make eye contact. I thank God that I'm more mature now. I have learned my lesson from that experience."

The most uncomfortable evening
"My husband and I happened to move to the same small city where my ex-boyfriend, Jim ,and his wife lived. Jim had been the love of my life, but being the Romeo (and roamer) that he was, we broke up. Jim and his wife just happened to drop by our apartment one evening with their newborn baby. I thought I was going to die. His wife asked me to hold the baby while she went to the powder room and I was a total wreck. I spilled my drink all over the floor. Jim just stood off to the side and smiled. He thought it was really funny. I couldn't wait for them to leave. It was the most uncomfortable evening of my life. His wife never knew that we dated, but my husband did. '"
